Style a Map

The easiest way to style a map is to use the Map Viewer.

In this lab you will use the styling capabilities of the viewer to make your map more meaningful.

Steps

  1. Go to arcgis.com and login.

  2. Click on this link to load the unstyled map. Or use your own unstyled map.

  3. Click Save As to save your own version of the map. Optionally Share > Everyone.

  4. Click on PDX Rail Stops > Change Style and set the following:

      1. Choose an attribute to show: Type
2. 2. Types (Unique Symbols) > Options * Click the rainbow at the top and change the outline of all Stops symbols to white, 1px. * Click Ok > Ok 3. Done
  1. Click on PDX Rail Lines > Change Style and set the following:

  2. 1 - Choose an attribute to show: Type

  3. 2 - Types (Unique Symbols) > Options

* Click the rainbow at the top change the line width of all Lines to 3px. * Ok > Ok 3. Done
  1. Click on PDX Neighborhoods Enriched > Change Style and set the following:

  2. 1 - Choose an attribute to show: COALIT

  3. 2 - Types (Unique Symbols) > Options

* Change the transparency to 50%. * Ok
3. Done
  1. Change the basemap to Dark Gray.

  2. Save your map.
